  • **George Ella Lyon**: Kentucky author who has published many genres, including picture books, juvenile novels, articles, and poetry. Her poem "Where I'm From" has become, quite literally, world famous. Born and raised in the mountains of Kentucky, George Ella Lyon grew up with a love of poetry and music. She has published two collections of poems, along with Where I'm From, Where Poems Come From, a poetry primer; twenty-two picture books, five novels for young readers, an autobiography (A Wordful Child, in the Richard Owen "Meet-the Author" series), Choices (a book of stories for adult new readers), and With a Hammer for My Heart, a novel. She is the editor of A Kentucky Christmas, and co-editor, with Leatha Kendrick, of Crossing Troublesome: Twenty-Five Years of the Appalachian Writers Workshop. Her work is featured in the PBS series, The United States of Poetry.
  • **Colleen Harris**: Kentucky native, currently working at UT-Chattanooga. Author of books and full of ideas for K-12 (Sessions will be offered K-6 and 7-12).
  • **Rick Robinson**'s author panel: Kentucky writer and author of the award-winning novel Manifest Destiny will conduct a panel discussion with other authors of adolescent literature. Visit his webpage: http://www.authorrickrobinson.com/.
  • **Andrea Cheng**: Andrea teaches at Cincinnati State Technical and Community College, focusing mostly on ELL students. She has published 18 books of which three are children's books, two are picture books, and others are Young Adolescent literature.
  • **Dr. Sara Kajder**: author of Bringing the Outside In: Visual Ways of Engaging Reluctant Readers and The Tech Savvy English Classroom. An Assistant Professor of Literacy Education at the University of Pittsburgh, Sara focuses on technological pedagogical content knowledge. (We all need ideas for technology in the classroom).   • **John Williamson**: former Kentucky teacher and administrator, John now works for The College Board in New York City. He will have many ideas concerning the SAT, AP Classes, and the PSAT.
  • Kentucky Education Commissioner **Dr. Terry Holliday**: Dr. Holliday is scheduled to present our keynote Friday morning (9:00 a.m.). We know his speech and related workshops by Kentucky Department of Education staff will be extrememly valuable to our members. We have learned that hearing it straight from him, helps us in our own classrooms.
  • **Patti Slagle**: Known for helping teachers teach grammar in context, Patti will be presenting sessions on both Friday and Saturday. You won't want to miss her.
  • **Linda Penn**:Linda taught grades K-3 in public schools for 21 years. She has received degrees and certification from the University of Louisville. She is also the author of books, including Is Kentucky in the Sky?
