    **George Ella Lyon**:
    Kentucky Education Commissioner ****Dr. Terry Holliday****: Dr. Holliday is scheduled to speak Friday aboutauthor who has published many genres, including picture books, juvenile novels, articles, and poetry. Her poem "Where I'm From" has become, quite literally, world famous. Born and raised in the opportunitiesmountains of Kentucky, George Ella Lyon grew up with a love of poetry and challenges facing Kentucky teachers as they develop strategies to implementmusic. She has published two collections of poems, along with Where I'm From, Where Poems Come From, a poetry primer; twenty-two picture books, five novels for young readers, an autobiography (A Wordful Child, in the Richard Owen "Meet-the Author" series), Choices (a book of stories for adult new core curriculum. We know his speechreaders), and related workshops byWith a Hammer for My Heart, a novel. She is the editor of A Kentucky DepartmentChristmas, and co-editor, with Leatha Kendrick, of Education staffCrossing Troublesome: Twenty-Five Years of the Appalachian Writers Workshop. Her work is featured in the PBS series, The United States of Poetry.

    Animoto allows you to upload pictures and other media to create professional-looking video clips. The basic account (30-second video) is free, but you can upgrade to other plans at minimal costs, depending upon the method of planned use. Animoto also offers an iPhone app. The video shown here was created in less than five minutes this morning.
    Create a wiki using Wikispaces (which is what you are seeing) or visit http://www.mediawiki.org to download software for use on your own personal site/servers. Mediawiki installs can run on a closed-circuit system if you don't want them to be sent out via the Internet (e-mail me if you need more info).
